Polispectran eye ointment is used to treat bacterial eye infections. It contains two antibiotics that work together to eliminate the bacteria causing the infection. It helps reduce the redness, swelling, itching, and discharge that accompany the infection. It is used in conditions such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, and superficial eye infections. Polispectran can also be used after eye surgery to prevent infection. A small amount of the ointment should be placed inside the lower eyelid as directed by the doctor. The medication should be continued for the entire specified period, even if symptoms improve, to avoid recurrence of the infection. It should not be used without a prescription or shared with other people to prevent the spread of infection.
